Brief Outline of Experience
Julia qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1989 and has enjoyed a diverse career working in the emergency department and acute surgical wards before settling on a career in primary care in the mid ‘90’s. Julia initially worked in General Practice, building her portfolio of skills before extending her role to become a nurse practitioner and independent prescriber.
In her later career Julia worked as a Clinical Matron for health and well-being bridging both primary care and adult mental health services. A large part of this role included clinical teaching and inspired a career move into education.
Since 2011 Julia has worked as an independent nurse educator running J2S Training Ltd with her business partner Julia O’Mara. Collaborative working has included academic programmes with Bournemouth University, Health Education England and Local Medical Committees across Wessex, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire (BOB) and Essex.
Having recently retired from clinical nursing, Julia continues her role in education, enjoying both the challenges and rewards that this brings. The vision being to make education and learning fun, interactive, easy to understand and applicable to practice with realistic expectations for Primary Care.
