This half day course is for any clinician working in primary care who will be undertaking ear examination within the workplace. It will focus on the theory of ear care, exploring the anatomy and physiology of the ear and common ear presentations. Discussion will include preparation for ear irrigation and referral pathways
There will be practical assessment of the ear with use of the otoscope to identify landmarks and normal anatomy.
A competency framework will be provided for support and sign off of skills in the workplace.

- To provide the knowledge and skills required for the procedure of irrigating an ear to facilitate wax removal

- To identify ‘red flags’ and sources of referral in ear care management
