This half day course is suitable for experienced HCAs and allied HCPs developing skills to include adult influenza vaccinations.
It is a prerequisite that the student has already completed the “core training for immunisations” prior to attending this course.
The flu training programme will provide all of the necessary resources to deliver seasonal influenza vaccinations to include competency and legal frameworks.

Course Content
- What is flu; seasonal, epidemics and pandemics
- This seasons flu campaign, including an overview of recent changes to the programme
- Undertaking a risk assessment of the patient prior to immunisation
- Safe handling and storage of vaccination including infection control
- Practical demonstration to include consultation and procedure
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course and workbook learning, outcomes will include:
- An awareness of the roles and responsibility associated with administration of the influenza vaccination.
- Theoretical knowledge and practical skills to administer the seasonal influenza vaccination with the support of a Protocol and Patient Specific Directive.
