Systems workshops are open to all health professionals that are assessing, triaging, and managing patients in primary care. This workshop will help to build or refresh your systematic history taking and examination skills within first contact diagnosis and care.
Evaluation of knee problems is common in primary care. A basic understanding of relevant anatomy as well as clinical and diagnostic tests can assist the primary care practitioner in determining the correct diagnosis, deciding whether to refer and appropriate treatment.
A competent practitioner can identify signs of non-traumatic causes and serious pathology that might cause knee pain.
This workshop will cover the examination techniques, possible diagnosis and red flags. Provided by a GP educator with clinical experience in primary care, this morning’s learning will be interactive and informative.
Course Content
- Understand the principles of systematic history taking and specific history taking for a knee presentation
- Have an awareness of specific clinical tests and common causes of knee pain
- Improve knowledge and skills on how to examine the knee
- Improve competence regarding medicines management/ advice and appropriate referral
