This half day course is suitable for experienced HCAs and allied HCPs developing skills to include adult pneumococcal vaccinations. It is a prerequisite that the student has already completed the “core training for immunisations” prior to attending this course.
The course will explore pneumococcal disease before discussing vaccination and the governance for safe practice. The HCA will have access to the relevant paperwork for practice and a competency framework for completion in the workplace with mentor supervision.
In support of National Minimum Standards, HCAs that attend this course will be undertaking advanced clinical practice that requires professional maturity in their role and must be trained to or have the equivalent of NVQ 3.
