This course focuses on the importance of lower limb assessment, exploring the importance of vascular screening and Doppler testing as an integral part of the holistic assessment.
The National Wound Strategy - Lower Limb Recommendations for the leg and foot will be discussed. Exploring the concept of compression without a reliable ABPI, early recognition of vascular disease and appropriate actioning. ‘Red Flags’ will be discussed and management pathways for immediate and necessary care.
The day will concentrate on assessment of the limb, information gathering and procedures to support care planning and the need for referral.
A ‘Doppler’ practical demonstration and workshop will be included, exploring A.B.P.I. calculation, listening and interpreting pulses, with discussion for using an automated ABPI machine.
Please bring your surgery Doppler kit and cuff on the day for the practical workshop.
